Gratitude and Tweetsgiving

Today is Tweetsgiving. If you are wondering exactly what that is then check it out HERE. I was introduced to it through our dear Miz Fit. Not one to question the Queen of fitness I quickly decided I would love to participate in a day that celebrates, gratitude and being thankful. Seriously, what an awesome idea!
Last week I was at the dentist and came across a magazine called Healthy Utah there was an article in it titled "Gratitude as a lifestyle" what a fantastic concept. We tend to show that we are grateful on holidays, birthdays etc. but what about the rest of the year? Mr. Fabulous who really could care less about any holiday or birthday celebration has always said "if you can't be nice to someone every day of the year, then one day does not make up for the other 364 days, ARGH!" You would have to understand the way he was raised. (That would take an entire blog in itself to explain.)
For years I have just kind of laughed it off and blamed it on his childhood, but he is right. Why do we have to wait until Valentine's to express our love, Christmas to give a gift and Thanksgiving to be grateful? These are things we should be willing and wanting to do everyday, right?
Now I am not saying to heck with all of the holiday's and celebrations, I love them, each and every one. It has been proven that gratitude does have a positive effect on our emotional and physical health. So why not practice it every day?! We can show gratitude by saying "Thank You" and "I Love you" to someone else. What about volunteering or doing a good deed? When was the last time you held a door open at the grocery store for someone? Smile at everyone you see today it is contagious. Little things add up and we should never underestimate kindness.
I am going to work harder on being more grateful on a daily basis. Because my list of things I am grateful for could go on forever I decided to choose 30. No particular reason why and no order what-so-ever just 30 things that make my life beautiful!
- A warm home when it is cold outside.
- My Husband who loves me unconditionally.
- Being a mother to 3 wonderful boys.
- Being able to hear them laugh and see them smile.
- Having my Mom and Dad near me and being 2 of my best friends.
- Finding self acceptance.
- Having the ability to exercise.
- All of my blog/twitter/facebook friends.
- All of my in person friends.
- Hands that can take care of others.
- All of my pets that only know how to show love.
- My creative ability.
- Being an American.
- Hugs and kisses from my family.
- My nieces and nephews.
- My Brothers and all of my In-laws.
- Being able to be home with my children and not work.
- Having my husband work from home.
- The work ethics and ability of my husband, he ROCKS!
- Faith and Hope
- Heavenly Father
- My cute little Scouts and the opportunity to be the leader.
- Living by the lake.
- Living on a farm.
- The quiet time first thing in the morning.
- Food on our table.

Thank each of you so very much for being a part of my life, on here or in person you all mean the world to me and I am so very grateful to be blessed by your friendship.
XO Shannon

I can honestly say that I live a life of gratitude almost every day. Though I moved to NYC two years ago, I still have moments (had one last night) in which I realize “wow..this is really my life…not a dream, not a fantasy..this is mine.” And it makes me ooze with thanksgiving for so many reasons.
When I’m riding my bike and/or walking around the lake I smile at everyone whether they smile back or not. And I’ve found that if you keep smiling they start smiling back.
So, I’ve got this post down…and I agree with Mr. Fab on this. But I also love every moment on the holidays too. I just go into thankful overdrive which might be a little annoying so just bare with me.
